Thieves is one of those oils that so many people have ‘aha’ moments over. It’s a powerful blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus radiata and rosemary essential oils. This combination gives off a rich and spicy aroma. Also, fun fact about thieves—legend has it that it was inspired by four 15th-century thieves who formulated this mixture of clove, rosemary and other botanicals to use while robbing the dead and dying. Little did they know of its staying power and how it would be coveted today.
Here are some ways to get your Thieves on:
Thieves is a great cleaner. Add 5 drops to a cup of baking soda and let sit overnight to absorb. Next day, sprinkle over carpets and vacuum. Add to your dishwasher to thoroughly clean dishes and take away any pesky odors.
Feeling yuck. If your feeling not yourself, apply thieves to your feet to help promote your overall health. Also, put a drop of Thieves vitality in the bottom of your mug and then add tea. (See below for a Thieves tea recipe.) Thieves is also great mixed with frankincense, lemon and purification (5 drops small bottle – 10 drops big bottle) to make a roller topped off with carrier oil to support the body’s natural defenses. Apply roller to bottoms of feet or wherever needed.
Thieves gives off a feeling of peace, security and comfort. I like it diffused with lemon, tangerine or orange.
Thieves was one of the first essential oil blends made when Young Living started out in 1994. There is also a whole line of Thieves cleaners that I highly recommend. When I started using the thieves household cleaner my whole under-the-sink area opened up because it is all you need to clean every surface of your home. Plus, all the products are non-toxic—so it is no-brainer. They also make toothpaste, hand wash, dish soap, mouthwash, veggie and fruit soak, laundry soap and hand purifier. This one little blend of oil is all you need to keep you above the wellness line.
