You know those fancy little bottles of foaming hand soap you can find in specialty stores and boutiques?  Well, I always wanted to have them in my house one day. My mom would have them in our downstairs powder room BUT they weren’t for us.  They were the fancy soaps for the guest bathroom.  Do not touch.  —And the scents were always changed out seasonally.

I remember being little and thinking, “I want to have them in my bathroom and use them all the time.”  They seemed so special and untouchable.

Then, later in life, when I looked at the ingredients in those prized possession soaps.  Yuck!

In our super busy hyper-consumerist culture, we just buy soap and don’t think about it.  We don’t think about how many times we are washing our hands —in the name of getting clean while in the meantime we are absorbing toxins into our bodies.  I mean, we wash our hands so many times a day!

Our skin is our largest organ, and the largest gateway for toxins to get inside. It’s not only what you eat, it is what you put on your body.  What goes on, also goes in.  Conventional soaps are riddled with harmful chemicals.

Did you know that our skin absorbs 60% of whatever we put on top of it?

Did you know that allergies can be linked to everyday chemicals used in common personal care products?

Not only is it cheaper to make a simple foaming hand soap, not to mention quick and easy, it is also way healthier. Go check the soap you have in your powder room now on the Think Dirty app.  You will be amazed.  And, if you don’t know what that is look here.

So, today in the name of all things beautiful and fall let’s make a Pumpkin Foaming Hand Soap with some essential oils and castile soap.

Pumpkin Spice Foaming Soap:

2 drops Cinnamon Bark
3 drops Clove
3 drops Orange
3 drops Nutmeg
2 Tbsp Castile Soap
1 Tbsp Carrier Oil (I usually use fractionated coconut oil)

Add the ingredients to an empty foaming soap bottle (like these on Amazon!), fill the rest with distilled water, and shake! I love how this soap makes my hands feel, it doesn’t dry them out like store-bought stuff used to! Your guests will all be wondering where you got it from!

(Hint: And for all you non-DIYer’s reading out there, the Thieves Foaming Hand Soap smells just as Fall-ish! You could even open it up and add a few drops of Orange to kick it up a notch!)

This blend smells so good and it takes all of five minutes to pull together.  Plus, the best part is that it is healthy for you and your family.  Bonus!

Tip: When you are finished the pumpkin spice soap, rinse out the bottle and reuse by making your favorite winter scents.  I, personally, know one of my winter soaps will be Stress Away and Peppermint—they smell just like a candy cane together!)
